Genesis HealthCare System is making an investment in the health and wellbeing of Coshocton County residents and others in the region .

During a press conference held April 28 at the Lock Landing in the Roscoe Village Visitor Center , it was announced Genesis is building a new healthcare facility in Coshocton called the Genesis Coshocton Medical Center . Genesis already has a family practice office on Main Street in Coshocton and a heart and vascular care facility in the Downtowner Plaza , but now will offer much more .

This new state-of-the-art facility will utilize superior clinical information technology , advanced clinical equipment and the latest in healthcare facility design to create the optimum patient experience . Expected to open in early 2023 , the Genesis Coshocton Medical Center will be located at 48119 U . S . 36 , across from Walmart .

to the residents of Coshocton County ,” said Matthew Perry , president and CEO at Genesis HealthCare System . “ This project signifies Genesis ’ deep commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of Coshocton residents close to home .”

Services include an emergency room with 10 beds ; outpatient surgery center ; 10-bed observation overnight unit ; imaging department with MRI , CT , X-ray , mammography and ultrasound ; physical , occupational and speech therapies ; as well as laboratory , pharmacy , cardiac diagnostics , respiratory therapy , pulmonary function testing and medical office building with physician specialists .

“ Our goal is to bring the most frequently used healthcare services to you right here at home and access to the full scope of services Genesis provides ,” Perry said .

designed with the possibility of expansion in mind .

“ We will break ground in July and open in early 2023 ,” Perry said . “ This will bring good-paying jobs here that will help stabilize economic development for decades to come . We believe this is the model for 21st-century small rural communities . We will be able to provide local care and technologically connect you to the full scope of services provided at the Genesis main campus .”

The project will cost $ 45 million and is supported in part by gifts from the Montgomery Foundation , the Coshocton Foundation and the Genesis HealthCare Foundation .

Coshocton Foundation executive director Bob Bell spoke at the event on behalf of his trustees . “ I ’ m pleased to be here today ,” he said . “ Our role is just part of the bigger picture . The impact this will have on the health and well-being of our community cannot be overstated .”

Linda Scott , executive director from the Montgomery Foundation , also was present . She said the foundation ’ s mission is to improve the quality of life for residents of Coshocton

County . Helping to provide more medical services right here at home fits in perfectly with that mission . They are humbled and grateful to be part of this new medical center and look forward to working with Genesis .

Tiffany Swigert , executive director of the Coshocton Port Authority , assisted Genesis in finding the land for its new facility on property made available by Dr . Darr and her son , Brian . She believes this will have a huge impact on the state of healthcare in Coshocton County and on the economy .

“ This will be a catalytic driver to future development of Coshocton ,” Swigert said . “ Economic development is a team effort . We look forward to the next months of development of this excellent facility .”

Jerry Nolder , executive director of the Genesis HealthCare Foundation , shared his thoughts on this new development . “ What an exciting day for Genesis and Coshocton ,” he said . “ Our foundation board recognizes the importance of quality healthcare right here in this region . We couldn ’ t be happier to be here .”
