By Josie Sellers
Moms on a Mission is for women of all ages and all stages of life . The new group at Calvary Baptist Church typically meets the second Monday of the month and is open to all .
“ MOPS is generally the one group most people know about ,” Alyssa Brown said . “ Liz ( Ringenberg ) and I started talking about getting something going here , but we didn ’ t want it to be just for young moms . No matter your stage in life , we each have something to offer . Even if you aren ’ t a mom , you have something to offer . We also wanted a way for older and younger generations to interact because that is something that is missing in today ’ s world .”

started and are excited to keep building the group .
“ We start at 9:30 a . m . with brunch or snacks , play a game and then have a teaching time ,” Brown said .
They were studying “ The Mission of Motherhood ” and then having small-group discussions about the book . After group discussions they do a craft or hear from a guest speaker .
The next Moms on a Mission meeting is scheduled for Monday ,
May 10 at 9:30 a . m . at the church . The speaker will be Sharon Revennaugh , who will share her thoughts on motherhood . Anyone wanting more information is welcome to message the group on Facebook .
“ You do not have to RSVP , but we ask if you are bringing kids to let us know so we can plan childcare ,” Brown said . “ In the summer we plan to meet more as a play group time .”
Gayle Stevens has enjoyed attending meetings even though her kids are grown . “ I ’ ve met some new people and had a good time ,” she said . “ Sometimes this is a real outlet for others . We have good food too and good visitors and crafts .”
Brown encourages women of all ages to come check the group out . “ Even if your kids are grown or older , we want you there ,” she said . “ In all different seasons of our lives , we have something to give .”

Donations are continuing to come in to help support the new K-9 team . Former mayor of West Lafayette and U . S . Army veteran Jack Patterson presented Fohl with a $ 250 donation on behalf of the Vietnam Veterans to support the K-9 project .
Fohl said there will be at least one , maybe two , fundraisers this year . “ We have got to support the canine project ,” he said . “ The community outpouring has been amazing .”
Fohl also said Stryder will have a big impact on the drug problem in the community .
“ It ’ s going to get worse before it gets better ,” he said . “ There is a recent spike in our drug arrests , but the more drugs you get off the streets , it is going to get better . We ’ ve got some resources now . It ’ s going to look like it is getting worse at first because of the number of arrests , but it ’ s not . We are going after it harder , and there is going be a lot more information coming out . It is going to seem like it ’ s worse , but we are just hitting it harder so we can make it better .”
