Summer block party planned in Roscoe Village on June 15

The Roscoe Village Business Association is planning a free summer block party for the community on Saturday , June 15 in the village from 11 a . m . to 9 p . m . Events for the day include music , games , a bike parade , a hot dog eating contest , crafts , shopping , dining , karaoke , a pong tournament , a fortune teller and more .
“ The Roscoe Village Business Association is excited to present a summer kickoff block party in Historic Roscoe Village . DORA will also be available for people to wander through the village while enjoying refreshments . RVBA is looking forward to working with local businesses to provide the community with a fun event to kick off summer ,” said Clarrisa Roof , secretary of the RVBA .

ARTSNCT celebrates successful art contest

The Arts Center of Newcomerstown ( ARTSNCT ) announces the resounding success of its recent art contest , Schmuey ’ s 13th Birthday Art Contest .
This unique event celebrated the center ’ s beloved blue Quaker parrot , Schmuey , who has become an endearing presence among students attending the center ’ s free art classes .
Schmuey , adopted as a service bird by ARTSNCT , is a favorite among the students , often perching on tables or the backs of chairs while they work on their projects .
“ The contest was extremely successful ,” said Michael Wise , executive director of ARTSNCT . “ Every class from K-12 in the Newcomerstown school system participated , along with a small group of adult residents who also submitted their artworks .”
With more than 500 creative and imaginative entries , the judges faced the delightful challenge of selecting winners . The first-place winners were as follows : Grades kindergarten to fifth category - Addi Fox , grade four ; grades six to 12 category -Deleney Baker , high school art two ; and adult category - Regina Schilling .
Prizes were awarded to these talented artists at their respective schools , celebrating their artistic efforts and creativity .
ARTSNCT remains committed to nurturing artistic talent in the community . This summer , the center will offer a limited series of free art classes , titled Art in the Park , at Cy Young Park . The free art classes for grades kinder-
