Consider safety in garage for the sake of your loved ones
What once was commonplace and safe in the garage may no longer be .
Think about all the dangers that are in the garage and make it a safe place . Tools , chainsaws , bicycles , lawn mowers , four-wheelers and the car can now pose a safety hazard to an individual with dementia or Alzheimer ’ s disease .
The interior or exterior “ man ” door and the
large garage door may now require a special lock with the key kept in an inaccessible place to your loved one . Tools should be locked up . Chainsaws or other sharp-bladed tools should be out of sight or locked up . Bicycles and lawn mowers can be chained and locked to a permanent fixture and car keys hidden so your loved one cannot drive away in the car .
We think about the house and keep that environment safe . Don ’ t forget to make the garage , the tool shed or the garden shed safe too .

Lily : Lilies are highly toxic to cats in particular . Even grooming pollen off of their fur or drinking water out of a vase where lilies are kept may cause kidney failure .
