Hopewell School hosts a family resource fair

By Marianne Austin
Hopewell School hosted an Early Childhood Family Resource Fair on May 4 to connect families with resources in the community .
“ We ’ re excited to have a family and community event for people to come in because there are a lot of resources that families may not be aware of ,” said Shannon Shontz , director of education at Hopewell School . “ We wanted to share that with families , so we contacted many community agencies to join us this evening . We invited all early childhood students in the county , preschools , daycares , our schools , and we are hoping for a good turnout .
“ They can walk around and explore the different resources , and we have craft stations , snacks , a s ’ mores table , artwork that they can do and some give-aways at the end of the evening . We appreciate all the help from the community . Noah from Papa John ’ s donated pizza coupons , and Shelby Theater donated movie tickets , and hopefully this will be something families can benefit from .”
Shana Miller , early childhood director , and Heather Grogro , early intervention service coordinator and supervisor , were handing out pamphlets about the programs available to families and magnets , water bottles , hand sanitizer and color-changing cups .
