Sacred Heart School hosted its annual spring community carnival on April 30 with lots of carnival food including pizza , shredded chicken and hot dogs . Everything was a dollar with a free bottle of water included .
“ Nikia Campbell prepared all of the food ,” her sister-in-law Kayla said . “ Nikia ’ s husband Tim Campbell was helping at the food table as well . Our son Kass goes to school here , and he was baptized on Easter . He just had his first communion . We ’ re pretty excited about that .”
“ This is a birthday party and a spring festival . We are celebrating 115 years this year ,” Nikia Campbell said . “ The best thing you can give your child is a relationship with Jesus Christ . We enjoy the church ; we enjoy the school and our principal Mary Kobel . I got my mom helping , my sisterin-law , my husband . I got my whole family working here , by golly .”
Carnival staff members were a combination of church members , parents , friends and school staff members and were identifiable by their red shirts .
Bridget Kobel and Miss Bubbles the clown , aka Autumn Joyce , were helping kids do flips and some acrobatics on the mat . Kobel ’ s mom is the principal at Sacred Heart , and Miss Bubbles is Kobel ’ s friend .
There also was a lot of music throughout the afternoon including praise and worship . Also ,

Father Tom said , “ We are so happy to bring the community festival back . We ’ re calling it community because it ’ s an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather that God has given us to come together as a community and enjoy a good time . We are happy to sponsor it because that ’ s what our school is about . That ’ s what it ’ s all about today , bringing the joy of the gospel and having fun . The idea is to share who we are to the community and tell people our doors are open for business . We ’ re happy to be an institute of education in the community . It ’ s a safe place where God is the center . This year it ’ s a way to celebrate 115 years . It is a specific way to celebrate that through God ’ s grace we have been able to
