New gym is now open on South Fourth Street

On May 5 the new Icon Fitness at 125 S . Fourth St . in Coshocton held its grand opening party and ribbon-cutting ceremony . The family business is owned and operated by the Brandon and Ashley Stokes family .
Brandon Stokes has been in law enforcement for 12 years and knew some officers in Coshocton .
“ I would come down here and work out with them . I had a passion for working out . There wasn ’ t a gym that would kick your butt , making you want to work out , and I have always wanted to open a gym . I ’ m from Newark , and there are a lot of gyms there and in Columbus ,” he said .
Stokes wanted to open a gym where he could really make an impact , where people would say , “ Wow , this is a gym where I really can get a workout .”
“ The gym changed every aspect of my life for the better , and I wanted to bring something like this to an area for everyone , people of all ages . We are always going to be improving . Eventually , we will expand into the back of the building . Right now I want to get people excited about working out . These days I feel like mental health is everything . This is life-changing stuff to help people feel better about themselves . This is a 24-hour gym with key fob access . Once you sign up , you can come 24 / 7 . We also have a kids room for anyone with a child ,” Stokes said .
“ We have strength training , weight training , group training and online training ,” trainer Dom Pressley said . “ Training online is the same , but it is basically when you can train by yourself . We can be on the side helping you online , and that includes meal plans as well . Fitness is a big thing for me because basically it is more than lifting weights . It is more so the mind . It ’ s more mental toughness before physical , and my job is to give you the mindset to want to get in here and want to work out .
“ I can help you train your mind and train your body to help you get where you want to be . This gym has the vibe and the equipment to be awesome for everybody , especially the younger people . You have everything you need , great people and we even have healthy snacks .”
Amy Crown , executive director at the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce , said , “ I had the pleasure of meeting Brandon and Ashley just a few short days ago , and they said , ‘ We are opening a gym across from your office .’ The sign went up , and we are all here today to celebrate . Congratulations . What an amazing transformation . Welcome to Coshocton . All we can say is wow . We are excited to have you here . Look at this turnout here to celebrate .”
