Kids can reel them in at May 3 fishing derby

The annual kids fishing derby will be held Saturday, May 3 at Lake Park. The derby will begin at 9 a. m., and sign-up will be done that morning as people arrive. All children will receive free bait, a hot dog and a drink, with additional drinks available to purchase.
Bill Mizer, president of the Coshocton County Sportsman’ s Association, said the Friends of the Park stocked the lake and the CCSA donated money toward that. There also are a lot of door prizes donated by local businesses.
Mizer said there are five groups for fishing prizes: boys age 3-6, girls age 3-6, boys age 7-12, girls age 7-12, and boys and girls age 13-16 together. Prizes include first place, second place and third place.
This is a free event and will be held rain or shine. Fishing will last until 1 p. m., and children do not have to start fishing at 9 a. m. to join the fun. Sign-up will be at the shelter beside the pavilion.
Any trout that is caught is awarded $ 10, and any fish over 10 inches receives $ 10.
