COSHOCTON - Local artists, the next topic for the John-
son-Humrickhouse Museum’s Our Town Stories, will be
March 14 at noon. Coshocton has birthed many fi ne art-
ists and was once known as a mecca for advertising art.
Brothers Benton and Matt Clark, whose work donned the
pages of Th e Saturday Evening Post, Cosmopolitan and
McCall’s, both had prolifi c careers in illustration during
the earlier part of the 20th century. Another well-known
local artist was Vivian Williams. Not only was she an
accomplished fi ne artist with works featured in galleries
from Atlanta to New York City, but she also infl uenced
younger generations through her work as a teacher. We
invite you to come share your memories with us during
this hour-long discussion. Always a great conversation!
JHM’s Our Town Stories gathering occurs monthly on
the second Th ursday of the month at noon. Th e conver-
sation animates “the old days” as we conjure up memo-
ries, share personal stories, and recall Coshocton County
as it once was. All are welcome to participate, whether
you grew up in Coshocton or not. Th e atmosphere is
casual and the discussion is always informative, fun and
surprising. Admission for the program is free, and bever-
ages and cookies will be provided. Bring your sandwich
and make the most of your lunch break.
April’s topic is “Prohibition”. For more informa-
tion, contact the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum
at 740-622-8710 or jhmuseum@jhmuseum.org. Th e
Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located at 300 N.
Whitewoman Street, Coshocton. Beginning March 1, the
museum is open noon – 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
