The Ohio FFA Livestock Judging Contest challenges students to evaluate and rank classes of livestock, including cattle, sheep, swine, and goats. Participants assess animals based on
various criteria such as muscling, conformation, and overall quality. In addition to placing the animals, students must complete a market grid, keep cull selection both of which relate to real life career opportunities in the livestock industry.
Shears’ success is a testament to the supportive environment fostered by the Ridgewood FFA chapter. Under the guidance of their advisors, the chapter emphasizes hands-on learning and encourages members to engage in competitions that enhance their agricultural knowledge and skills.
“ Peyton’ s achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of all our members,” said Ridgewood FFA advisor Sue Davis.
“ We are proud of her accomplishment and look forward to her continued success,” said Logan Pyers, who is the other Ridgewood FFA advisor.
