Results of community health assessment announced

COSHOCTON - The Coshocton City and Coshocton County health departments collaborated with the Appalachian Rural Health Institute ( ARHI ) at Ohio University on a community health assessment for Coshocton County . The 2017 Community Health Assessment identified the following six main health issues in the community : Substance abuse , cancer , diabetes , cardiovascular disease , depression and chronic low respiratory disease .
The health assessment showed heart disease and cancers as the leading causes of death in the county . This health survey suggests more public concern with substance abuse in the county than the two leading causes of death . This health assesment also includes environmental health indicators into the assessment process . Those who participated in the survey clearly identified housing and neighborhood conditions as their main concerns related to the environmental health .
The community ’ s help is needed in determening the next steps to address these health issues .
