Roscoe Village will host a weekly summer event called The Possibilities of Canal Life . The series began on June 6 with butter churning . On June 13 children learned what a typical day was like for a child in the 1830s . On June 20 they learned about school . The rest of the schedule is as follows : June 27 , waterwheels ; July 11 , chandeliers / homemade candles ; and the series will end on July 18 with a ride on the canal boat . The cost is $ 2 per child , and registration is required by visiting eventbrite . com and searching for Roscoe Village . Pictured are children listening to what a day was like for children , including chores they were expected to do . Each event is from 10-11 a . m ., and parents are welcome to stay with their children .
