Wesney to serve as athletic director at RVHS
River View High School
and the River View Local
School District announced
the hiring of Kate Wesney
as the new athletic director
for the district.
Wesney is only the fourth
athletic director in the history
of the district, dating
back to 1965. She is a graduate
of River View High
School and the University
of Mount Union, where she
earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in sports business
and a minor in business
administration.
Wesney follows a short
list of athletic directors who
have supported the district
since 1965, all of which are
River View Sports Hall of
Famers: Joe Prosek and
Ron Tisko and most recently
Rod Lindsey, who will
be inducted into the hall in
December as a result of him
being in the OHSBCA Hall
of Fame (baseball coaches),
and Wesney, who was part of
the 2006-07 state champion
Lady Bears basketball team.
Wesney has been with
the district for eight years
in various roles including
the secretary to the athletic
director of three years and
most recently the secretary
in the main office at River
View High School.
River View High School
and River View Local District
would like to thank
Lindsey for his service as
athletic director over the
past nine years.
“Rod has done a wonderful
job with our programs
in some very tough economic
times. He always put
student-athletes first when
making any decisions,”

River View High School
principal Chuck Rinkes
said. “We have been blessed
as a school and district to
have the three people we
have had as athletic directors
over the years. Kate is
going to do a fantastic job.
She has great ideas and is
willing to create opportunities
for our student-athletes
and their families.”
“Rod Lindsey is a true
Black Bear who has devoted
much of his life to River
View Local School District
and River View Athletics.
Being an athletic director
is a tireless position in any
district and requires a dedication
to wanting kids to
experience the joys of competition
as well as life lessons
learned from extracurricular
athletics. We want
to thank Mr. Lindsey for
his years of dedication and
service. We also want to
welcome Katie in her new
role,” said Dalton Summers,
superintendent of schools.
Summers explained
Wesney’s expanding role.
“She will be adding these
responsibilities to many
of her existing roles in the
district, and the task will
Kate Wesney
be large. We are confident
in her ability to take on
such an important role and
responsibility and look forward
to the direction she
will choose for our athletic
programs.”
Submitted
Wesney will start her
new duties immediately as
fall sports reopen on campus
with off-season workouts
and weight-room sessions.
She can be emailed at
