First Farm Friday scheduled

By Josie Sellers
The Coshocton Soil & Water Conservation District will bring back First Farm Friday .
“ We ’ ve had such good response from everyone that makes it happen , from the volunteers to the businesses that support us and , of course , the people who come out ,” said Deb Bigelow , Coshocton Soil & Water Conservation District administrator . “ We were so disappointed last year that we couldn ’ t do it . We held off canceling it until about a month out .”
This outdoor event that focuses on Coshocton County agriculture will be held Friday , Aug . 6 from 5-7:30 p . m . on the 300 block of Main Street . There will be displays , games , kids ’ activities , farm machinery , farm animals , free samples and more .
File The farm equipment is always a big hit at First Farm Friday .
“ What makes this successful is all the different people that come help us at the stations ,” Bigelow said . “ They each bring their own tables and their own things that help people learn about the importance of agriculture here and across the world .”
Children who attend the event will be given stamp cards to have filled out at the various stations . The first 250 to complete theirs will receive a free cup of Whit ’ s Frozen Custard .
“ Whit ’ s donated custard , and the Farm Bureau paid for part of it ,” Bigelow said .
Food will be available from Silver Hammer BBQ , the Snow Shack and Future

Clary Gardens will host outdoor plays in August

Leaders 4-H Club , and River View FFA will have a lemonade stand .
“ It will be right there around the court square with most of the agriculture stuff being right on Main Street ,” Bigelow said . “ A few other people have asked to be part of the event too , and they will be up toward Fourth Street because we want to keep the main focus on agriculture .”
She said the animals and farm machinery displays are always a big hit .
“ We are so fortunate that we have people who allow kids to climb up on their machinery and sit in it ,” Bigelow said . “ I encourage people that if they want to see the equipment , leave to be there at 7:30 p . m . You ’ ll get to see the sprayer fold up and go down the road .”

“ This is the first year of our operation ,” said Mark Kittel , president of Rogue Elephant Productions . “ We just formed early in 2021 . But I , my family and our board members have been doing shows for several years , both here in Ohio and in upstate New York . Before forming the company , we had been exploring partnering with
Clary Gardens in 2020 to bring live theater to their outdoor venue .”
Rogue Elephant was formed in March 2021 . They chose to do an outdoor performance , hoping for the end of COVID restrictions . The youth production was added in April .
“ Anyone coming our second week can look forward to a double feature . We are already making plans for out next shows and member events for 2022 ,” Kittel said . “ We decided early on that while we would charge admission for the frontrow seats at the gardens , the bulk of the available tickets are free of charge and just require a reservation through our ticketing system . We want to ensure we don ’ t overcrowd the amphitheater .”
The amphitheater has
42 front-row seats that will cost $ 15 each . All seats for the youth productions are free .
“ We want to ensure that live theater is available and accessible to everyone in our community . Tickets are available through our website , www . reptheaterohio . com ,” Kittel said .
