Pregnancy center planning to expand its services

By Josie Sellers
Amy Miletti started as the interim director of the Pregnancy Center of Coshocton in April , and the board was recently expanded to help facilitate upcoming changes to better serve clients .
Since 1990 this dedicated group of volunteers has provided diapers , clothing from preemie to 2T and other necessary items to expecting moms and parents . They plan to continue to do that but also expand their emotional and spiritual support and peer mentoring .
“ With the breakdown of the family that has been occurring across America

Lynnie Lou ’ s Boutique held its ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 15 . The new women ’ s clothing boutique is located at 416 N . Whitewoman St . in Roscoe Village . The store opened on July 1 , and owner Lyndsi Gadd said the first few weeks have been going well . “ It ’ s been so good and so much fun .” As she welcomed everyone to the ceremony , she thanked everyone who had helped make her dream come true , from her husband and family to community support agencies . Amy Crown from the Chamber of Commerce congratulated Gadd and said she was excited to have another place to shop in Coshocton . Mayor Mark Mills also congratulated Gadd and thanked her for taking a chance on Roscoe . He also said Roscoe buildings are all full now . Tiffany Swigert from the Coshocton Port Authority said , “ It is a beautiful shop and an asset to the community . Congratulations .”
for years , people need a safe place to talk ,” Rebecca Armstrong from the pregnancy center said . “ There is no judgement , no expectations , just a place you can come talk to someone .”
They also plan to expand their abortion recovery program , which Armstrong is the coordinator of . She will work with people one on one or do small groups of no more than four . The service is not clinical based but peer based .
“ We want to help people heal and understand , and this is open to both men and women ,” Armstrong said . “ I have experience with the effect of past abortion issues . If you contact us , I will call you back , and everything will be confidential .”
However , to best offer expanded services , the pregnancy center needs a new space .
“ We are growing out of the space we have and need more privacy for peer counseling ,” Miletti said . “ Women need someone to talk to . Historically , we ’ ve focused on their physical needs , but we want to be more holistic .”
Armstrong agreed with Miletti .
“ She and I have both had clients who are weeping and broken ,” Armstrong said . “ We are really praying for a new , larger location that is more accessible to the community .”
Sacred Heart Catholic Church provides the center ’ s current location at 819 Main St ., but the volunteers represent many different denominations . The faith-based organization welcomes new volunteers who can help them meet their clients needs . Both men and women are welcome to volunteer their time to help with event planning , marketing , fundraising , and organizing donations and activities , among other tasks . They plan to be at the upcoming Baby Expo and the Coshocton County Fair and have a display up at the Coshocton Public Library .
“ We are doing all we can to be more visible in the community ,” Armstrong said .
Miletti was led to the organization by a lady from her church .
“ About four to five years ago , my heart broke for pro-life issues , but I wasn ’ t in a position to volunteer ,” she said . “ When
my family moved here in the fall , I asked the Lord to show me how I could help .”
One of Miletti ’ s goals is to see more women come through the pregnancy center .
“ We have eight to 10 appointments per month but would love to see more ,” she said . “ I know there are people out there struggling and hurting that lack a support system . We would love to be that support system for them and let them know that they are not alone . We want to help people feel valued and help them make healthy choices . With their permission we will pray with them too .” The pregnancy center
