Buying local is more popular than ever , and the Erb family of Sugar Valley Meats in Sugarcreek has been supplying meats to local customers since 1990 .
“ People are trying not to rely so much on large retail stores ,” Mike Erb said . “ We offer furnished beef and hog in whole , half and quarter sizes . We want customers to know this is an option for them as opposed to buying small amounts or bulk meat at a grocery store . We can save you money and offer less common cuts of meat .”
Erb explained that when you purchase a whole , half or quarter size beef or hog , you are paying a flat rate for the meat . Every cut of beef included will essentially be the same cost compared to the grocery store , where you pay

“ Steaks are the same price as hamburger ,” Erb said . “ You pay by the pound , and it all balances out in the end . Just keep the meat in your freezer , and depending on the size you buy , you ’ ll have meal options for several months to a year .”
