Clean Ohio Green Space funds are now available
The District 14 Natural Resources Assistance Council has approximately $ 2.6 million available for round 17 , which is now open .
District 14 includes Carroll , Columbiana , Coshocton , Guernsey , Harrison , Holmes , Jefferson and Tuscarawas counties . This program helps to fund preservation of open spaces , sensitive ecological areas and stream corridors .
Applicants may request grant funds up to 75 % of the estimated costs for projects that do either of the following :
— Acquisition of open space including the acquisition of easements and improvement activities of those open spaces . Acquisition includes the purchase of land for parks , forest , wetlands , natural areas and connecting corridors for natural areas .
— Projects including improvement activities must occur in conjunction with acquisition , unless the property to be improved was originally purchased with Clean Ohio funds . Improvement activities include construction / enhancement of facilities necessary to make the green space area accessible and usable by the general public . — Protection and enhancement of riparian corridors or watersheds including the protection of streams , rivers , lakes and other bodies of water . Projects may include reforestation of land or planting of vegetation for filtration , fee simple acquisition or acquisition of easements for providing access , or for protection and enhancement .
— Hydromodification activities that result in improved water quality are now allowed .
