130th anniversary of Tyndall Church planned

Tyndall United Methodist Church was built in 1892 , and the building is celebrating its 130th anniversary with an open house and concert on Sunday , Aug . 7 at 4 p . m .
In 2021 Mission 3:16 purchased the building from the United Methodist Church and completely renovated
we ’ re hiring
it . According to Sheldon Mencer , the group used the building for several events last year and began the renovation project in early January 2022 . The renovation is now complete , and they want to show off the building .
“ The open house will start at 4 p . m ., and we will have hot dogs , chips and drinks ,” Mencer said . “ The concert will start at 6 p . m . and will be our trio — Mencer , White and Cheney . The concert will last about an hour , maybe an hour and 15 minutes . Everything is free , but we will be accepting donations to help cover the cost of the renovation . We just really want people to come and see the church . I think anyone who knows what it looked like before will be really surprised and happy at how it looks now .”
The open house will kick off a series of events that will continue monthly through the rest of the year .
The church ’ s address is 18091 Township
Road 284 in Coshocton . Mencer said signs will be posted . At press time visitors traveling west from Coshocton can enter Tyndall off of state Route 16 . Others will need to take detours . Dean and Barbara Border of Coshocton , formerly of Heath / Newark , will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Wednesday , Aug . 3 . They were married Aug . 3 , 1952 , at the EUB Church of rural Kansas with Pastor Ed Griswold and Pastor Jack Stowell officiating .

Barbara , 88 , worked part-time at various jobs , and Dean , 90 , retired from the Newark Air Force Station in 1987 after 37 ½ years .
Their five children are Betty , Yana , Larry , John and Tim . They have 13 grandchildren , 16 greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandchild .
