Local singers chosen for the Cardinal Chorale

The Cardinal Chorale has chosen some local singers for membership in the 26th edition of its mission as “ choral ambassadors of hope .”
Alexis Caley , Sam Corbett , Peyton ( Olivia ) Crouso , Dawson Ford , Ryan Gildow , Hunter Gonter , Julia Grimmett , Everett Hall , Grace Hawthorne , Jacob Heading , Sarah Heading , Lauren Johnson , Dakota Kealiher , Kennedy Kittell , Anna Richcreek , Kailyn Shalosky , Aidan Stevens- Woolery , Connor Stevens-
Woolery , Liam Stevens- Woolery , Sydney Stewart , Sheldon Stotts and Quentin Wherley will be among the auditioned singers from across Ohio who will participate in the eight-day Cardinal Chorale Music Workshop July 17-24 on the campus of Muskingum University in New Concord . They represent Coshocton , Ridgewood and River View school districts . Other members come from around the state , Kentucky , West Virginia and Indiana .

Marietta College shares its 2021 spring dean ’ s list

About 100 Marietta College students were named to the spring 2021 dean ’ s list , which features any full-time student completing at least 15 credit hours with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.74 .
The following students are from Coshocton County :
Morgan Bryant of
Coshocton is majoring in biology and is a graduate of Coshocton High School . Shelby Byland of Coshocton is majoring in finance and is a graduate of River View High School . Samantha Corbett of Coshocton is majoring in music education and is a graduate of River View High School .
Area staff members include Michael Belt , John Bordenkircher , Michael Border , Matt Downing , Elizabeth Ferris , Caroline Heading , Erin Jobes , Ann Leppla , Charles R . Snyder , Mark Wagner and Connor Wheeler .
In a time when many adolescents and young adults have missed milestones because of the pandemic , 12 singers who ordinarily would have “ aged out ” have been invited back for a bonus year . They will provide the foundational

Harris named to Cedarville dean ’ s list

Cedarville University student Kailee Harris of Coshocton , majoring in early child education , was named to the dean ’ s list for spring 2021 .
This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours .
leadership that will undergird the success of the Chorale .
The workshop will be led by the Chorale staff and artistic director Charles R . Snyder of Coshocton . Snyder is the music director and conductor of the Coshocton Community Choir , a 100- voice auditioned ensemble he founded in 1971 . He also conducts The Coshocton Singers , a regional choir for young singers grades 4-8 that he organized in 1987 . In 2002 he created the Coshocton Youth Chorale , a high school ensemble that includes 56 singers from several counties .
A faculty member of Muskingum University ’ s annual Choral YouthFest from 1993-2016 , Snyder also has been a member of Muskingum ’ s voice faculty . In spring 2005 Snyder was on the Muskingum campus , teaching voice and serving as director of choral activities during the sabbatical of professor Robert Owen Jones .
After converging at Muskingum on July 17 ,
Chorale members will spend eight days in rehearsals , preparing a performance for their families . They will include some of the repertoire they will sing in concerts and take on tour during the 2021-22 season .
The theme for this year ’ s workshop is titled “ Let There Be Music ,” which is designed to lift the spirits of audience members and to celebrate the opportunity to create music together again .

Wright part of Miami ’ s spring president ’ s list

Skyler Wright was named to the Miami University spring 2020-21 president ’ s list .
Miami University students who are ranked in the top 3 % of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2020-21 have been named to the president ’ s list .
Wright , from Coshocton , is earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics .
