Entries sought for the 2021 Big Tree Contest

Entries for the annual Big Tree Contest are now being taken by the Coshocton Soil and Water Conservation District .
The contest is open to all species of trees growing on privately owned property in Coshocton County . Property-line trees and trees growing on federal , state or local government-owned land are not eligible . Any person can enter any tree that is physically located in Coshocton County , whether or not the tree is growing on the nominator ’ s property .
Two winning trees will be chosen this year . The Big Tree Contest is countywide while the Coshocton Is Blooming category is limited to trees growing within the Coshocton city limits . Coshocton SWCD encourages people to submit as many entries as they like . Entries will be measured by a representative from Coshocton SWCD using the national standardized measurement criteria .

receive a plaque and two tickets to Coshocton SWCD ’ s annual meeting and banquet on Thursday , Oct . 21 at the Lake Park Pavilion . All entries must be received by 4:30 p . m . on Friday , July 30 .

Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum in need of photos

The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum wants to showcase regional photographers in its upcoming photography show , Capture the Light , starting Sept . 25 .
This is an open call . Submissions can range from the most traditional to the most conceptual or experimental . The only criteria for entry are artists must be at least 18 years old and must reside , work , go to school or have grown up in Coshocton , Muskingum , Licking , Holmes or Tuscarawas counties . The entry deadline is Sunday , Aug . 8 .
Entrants will be notified of acceptance within 12 days after the deadline . There is an entry fee of $ 15 for up to 10 entries submitted . The cost is $ 5 per each additional entry . Fees are nonrefundable . The number of entries is unlimited . The entry fee must be paid by U . S . check to The Johnson- Humrickhouse Museum or by credit card via Square . If paying by Square , you will receive a secure invoice to your email address .
