Enjoy an adult dyeing class at J-H Museum

The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum announced a dye class for adults led by professional quilter Carolyn Mann on Aug . 5 at 6 p . m .
Mann dyes her own fabric for her art quilts . She will teach the history behind indigo dye and teach dyeing techniques .

Twenty kids around 3 years old spent the month of June discovering what preschool will be like .
The transition-to-preschool class was held twice a week for an hour and a half each time at Hopewell School . The children , who were from the Help Me Grow Early Intervention program , spent their time playing in a classroom , enjoying a snack , having fun on the playground and being read to .
“ They will all be going into the preschool systems this fall ,” said Renee Stein , speech language pathologist . “ This gave them access to a classroom and a routine . Our primary focus in this class is socialization with peers , getting used class is $ 25 , which includes a T-shirt , fat quarters to make one ’ s own samples and the dye .
Mann is from Brinkhaven . She has been sewing and quilting most of her life . Clothing construction , home dec and traditional quilting led to a time of art quilting now . The pieces she creates are an outlet for her creative side and make her happy .

In addition to Stein , the class was run by Tami Brenneman , developmental specialist ; Tonya Fish , occupational therapist ; Deb Croft , physical therapist ; and Samantha Culver , Help Me Grow intern .
Amanda Taylor feels much better about sending her son , Odin Caley , to preschool after his time at the transition program .
“ He ’ s a mommy ’ s boy ,” Taylor said .

August , started with Help Me Grow because of speech issues .
“ I work at WIC , so it was easy to get a referral ,” Taylor said . “ I ’ ve noticed a difference . He uses a lot
