Fiction
“ The Ocean at the End of the Lane ” by Neil Gaiman , a groundbreaking work from a master , is told with a rare understanding of all that makes us human and shows the power of stories to reveal and shelter us from the darkness inside and out . It is a stirring , terrifying and elegiac fable as delicate as a butterfly ’ s wing and as menacing as a knife in the dark .
“ The Wall ” by John Lanchester is a dystopian tale set on an island nation ravaged by the Change . An enormous concrete barrier around its coastline — the Wall — is built . Joseph Kavanagh , a new Defender , has one task : to protect his section of the Wall from the Others , the desperate souls trapped amid the rising seas outside . A blend of the most compelling issues of our time — climate change , increasing fear , widening divisions — “ The Wall ” is a suspenseful story of love , trust and survival .
“ The Island of Sea
Women ” by Lisa See has two girls living on the Korean island of Jeju . They are best friends who come from very different backgrounds . When they are old enough , they begin working in the sea with their village ’ s allfemale diving collective . As the girls take up their positions as baby divers , they know they are beginning a life of excitement and responsibility but also danger . After surviving hundreds of dives and developing the closest of bonds , forces outside their control will push their friendship to the breaking point .
Nonfiction “ The Water Will
Come : Rising Seas , Sinking Cities , and the Remaking of the Civilized World ” by Jeff Goodell is the definitive account of the coming water , why and how this will happen , and what it will all mean . As he travels across 12 countries and reports from the front lines , acclaimed journalist Jeff Goodell employs fact , science and on-theground journalism to show vivid scenes from what already is becoming a water world .
“ The Outlaw Ocean : Journeys Across the Last Untamed Frontier ” by Ian Urbina is both a gripping adventure story and a stunning exposé . This unique work of reportage brings fully into view for the first time the disturbing reality of a floating world that connects us all , a place where anyone can do anything because no one is watching .
“ Fathoms : The World in the Whale ” by Rebecca Giggs is a “ delving , haunted and poetic debut ” ( The New York Times Book Review ) about the awe-inspiring lives of whales , revealing what they can teach us about ourselves , our planet and our relationship with other species .

intent of exercise is not to just increase strength or for fat loss . It is vital for heart health , improving mood , circulation and even sleep quality .
Final results from the study found participants in all groups did get leaner and stronger . But the women working out in the morning exercise group got much larger reductions in body fat and body-fat percentage than the evening exercise group . Women in the evening exercise group got much bigger improvements in upper-body
strength , power and muscular endurance than did the morning exercisers .
For men , the performance improvements were similar , no matter when they exercised . However , the evening group had significantly larger improvements in blood pressure , cholesterol levels and the percentage of body fat they burned for energy . Also , there was a major improvement with feelings of general fatigue for men .
