The River View Junior High team won the pony league championship on June 30 by defeating the Indian Valley Braves 7-6 . The team ended its season 19-3 . Both of her grandpas were veterans and always taught her freedom isn ’ t free .

“ Grandpa Tom served in country during Vietnam , and grandpa Mike was stateside in the national guard ,” Miller said . “ With this type of introduction and my constant interaction with the Coshocton Honor Guard , it was inevitable that I would spend my life giving back to the people that sacrificed their lives for our freedom .

“ I want to be Miss Ohio and Miss America , and if it ’ s meant to happen , it will . Either way I ’ ve got some great stories to tell my kids and grandkids someday . My mom and I were joking the other day about keeping some of my outfits to show them .”

Her parents are Matt and Valerie Miller . She said even though her parents were surprised she wanted to do this , they have been so supportive of her and her dreams . “ My dad sits with his head in his hands at every competition cause he ’ s so nervous for me ,” she said .

Miller said she is so appreciative of her family , friends and the community for all of the support she has gotten . “ There is no way I could have gotten this far without all of them ,” she said .
