Spring 2022 Highlights
We create opportunities for people to explore how science-based knowledge can improve social , economic , and enviromental conditions .
College of Food , Agricultural and Enviromental Sciences
Emily Marrison , Family and Consumer Sciences Educator , attended the Joint Council of Extension Professionals Public Issues Leadership Development Conference in Washington , D . C . in April . She joined with Extension professionals from universities across the United States to learn about public policy related to education , agriculture , and health . Marrison met with Ohio Representatives on Capitol Hill to share the impacts of Extension programming in Coshocton County and across Ohio .
For the 3rd consecutive year , OSU Extension in Coshocton County and the Coshocton County Master Gardener Volunteers participated in Ohio ’ s Victory Garden Seed Distribution to encourage vegetable gardening across Ohio . Coshocton County was one of 42 counties across Ohio selected to be part of this distribution . Coshocton County distributed 300 packets of seeds containing lettuce , carrots , cucumber , and sunflower seeds .
Cloverbud Camp was held on Saturday , June 11 at Lake Park . This year ’ s theme was “ To the Rescue at 4-H Cloverbud Camp .” Twenty-nine youth enjoyed the day with first responders from the Coshocton County Sheriff ’ s Office and Coshocton City Fire Department . Sheriff James Crawford paid a visit and spoke with the youth . There were demonstrations from Deputy Jeremy Johnson with his K9 , Rip and Deputy Steven Mox with his K9 , Chili . Fire Prevention Officer Brent Endsley , from the Coshocton Fire Department , was there with the Safety Smoke House to teach the youth about fire safety . After some other fun activities and lunch , the campers finished their day by going swimming at the Lake Park Aquatic Center .
