A new tutoring program is being offered at Precious Treasures Learning and Child Care, located at 101 E. Main St. in West Lafayette.

Children from throughout the community in kindergarten through sixth grade can be signed up for one-hour, one-onone appointments.

“ At our first appointment, we do an initial screening,” Hannah Moore from Precious Treasures said.“ We ask parents to bring their child’ s IEP, past report cards or anything else from their school district that could be helpful during that first appointment. Then we make a plan.”

Moore will tutor students in any subject and can meet once a week. Plans also are in the works for after-school tutoring.

“ It doesn’ t have to be long-term tutoring,” Moore said.“ If a student is struggling with a certain math concept, we can work on that or whatever the parent prefers. We saw a need in the

community and want to help. There are very few licensed tutoring programs around, and this is something extra we can do.”

Precious Treasures also offers preschool, and Moore said 100 % of their kids were kindergarten ready.

“ We had nine graduate preschool, and we are almost full for next year,” she said.

Moore has a master’ s degree in early childhood education and teaching and is the curriculum director and administrator at Precious Treasures. The center also has an inclusive child care program designation that allows them to serve children with disabilities and a Step Up to Quality Gold Award from the State of Ohio.

“ We are all-inclusive,” Moore said.
