THURSDAY , DEC . 31 , 1970 CHS has claimed the state golf championship . The Coshocton team consisted of Tim Miller , Bob Krebs , Mark McConnell and Kim Miller , who medaled with 149 . Rains hit as the championship tourney was happening , but the Redskins managed 634 . New Lexington followed with just two strokes more and title defenders Upper Arlington finished third with 641 .
WEDNESDAY , DEC . 31 , 1980 The Black Bears came to West Lafayette last night and walked away as Champion of the RNRVC Girls Holiday Tournament . The undefeated River View team faced the undefeated Generals , and when the buzzer rung the score was 50-42 and Ridgewood was dealt their first loss of the season . Caroline Mast led the Black Bears with 23 points followed by Nancy Beatty who had 12 . Denise Slay led the Lady Generals with 16 points . Deanna Foster and Janet Gladstone both had 10 points .
SUNDAY , JAN . 6 , 1991 CHS ’ divers managed to hold on to their Canton Timken Relays title Saturday . Chris Skelton and Pat Ferron , the duo who won the title last year , faced stiff competition this year . Skelton averaged 25 points per dive and Ferron averaged 42 . Janice Baylor will be joining the two defending each of their titles in the Coshocton High School Swimming and Diving Invitational next Saturday .

FRIDAY , JAN . 5 , 2001 Olivia Rose Ringenberg was the first child born in Coshocton County this year . She was born to Elizabeth and Dan Ringenberg on the second .
WEDNESDAY , JAN . 12 , 2011 Evelyn Hathaway was born on Jan . 8 , 100 years ago . “ I never thought , years ago , I ’ d never live to be one hundred . That ’ s for somebody else . I just want to say God bless you all ,” she said to a room of friends and family gathered to celebrate the occasion on Saturday . Hard work is what Evelyn credits for her longevity . “ When I was young , I ’ d think , well I hope when I get older , I ’ ll not have to do all these chores . But don ’ t think I didn ’ t have plenty . But they weren ’ t quite as bad as some I ’ ve had before I ’ d say . So , such is life .”
