Make it Mine Designs LLC in Newcomerstown will host a grand reopening and Valentine ’ s Day sale on Friday , Feb . 5 . Sale hours are from 5-8 p . m . with many specials , door prizes and refreshments .
“ We make anything custom , like wooden signs — anything the customer needs . It doesn ’ t matter ,” said Crystina Moore , owner . “ We make custom pine furniture and refurbish furniture . If you need something a certain size , we can custom build it too . We have home decor , T-shirts , baby onesies , decals , wax melts , custom apparel , safety and work clothes , signs , promotional items , purses , keychains boutique style , also a gift shop with furniture , home decor , custom gifts , Warm Glow candles , Crossroads candles and a whole lot more .”
Moore makes aluminum signs using vinyl letters and does vinyl lettering for businesses to use on vehicles , store windows or as gifts . She can make employee T-shirts for local businesses , as well as lettering on both promotional and personal coffee mugs and water bottles .
A painting party is a unique idea offered for children ’ s birthdays and adults as well . The Time to Paint activity makes for an enjoyable and entertaining project and gives guests something to keep and use after the party . Adult parties provide the opportunity to make a two-sided snowman / scarecrow sign .
New this year is the Man Cave with such things as beard oil , signs , barbeque sauce , gourmet popcorn and other items that appeal to men .
Make it Mine Designs has been in business for six years at this location . With three vendors currently , Moore is looking to add more and extend her hours this year .
“ We have a unique variety of handmade items from all over the United States , but I would love to keep it all local . If I don ’ t make it or already have a vendor , I ’ m into using local vendors ,” Moore said . “ I like doing what I do . You meet so many people who love crafts . If you have an idea of something you would like to have made , just ask .”
Make it Mine Designs LLC is located at 216 W . Main St . in Newcomerstown . Store hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a . m . to 2 p . m . or by appointment . Call 740-584-4834 or check them out on Facebook .

Letter to the Editor

2020 was a hard year for our local community and our nation . Who among us has not been impacted by a loss this past year of a family member , friend , neighbor or community leader ? As John Donne wrote , “ Any man ’ s death diminishes me , because I am involved with mankind and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls ; it tolls for thee .”
Thank God for the ways they touched our lives and for those who cared for them and the grieving often risking their own health in the process .
Beyond the virus itself , the public health mandates , whatever your position on them , have changed our lives . They have affected businesses and schools , hospitals and churches , and how we do life together . For example , one of the aspects of living in a smaller community is glancing a little longer at a stranger in hopes you may know them from
somewhere , but that ’ s been harder to do when we are wearing masks and keeping our distance .
Our fellow Americans have been distant from each other in our politics , race relations and how we view each other . Feelings are strong , convictions heart-felt , and opinions often differ between members of the same family , among coworkers , church members or close friends . It will take more than vaccines to bring us closer together again .
So as we are now into a new year , perhaps we can resolve that we will listen more and speak ( or post or tweet ) an unkind word less . We won ’ t assume someone is one of “ those people ” because they differ from us . We won ’ t accuse them of ignorance or selfishness because of

how they voted or whether we see them with a mask on or off .
Instead , may we choose to believe the best of each other , that someone with whom we disagree may have a point , something we can learn from , or at least worth hearing out . And if we have an opinion to share , we can keep in mind people may not care how much we know until they know how much we care . We can resolve to believe everyone is worthy of being treated the way we wish to be treated . We can hope to perhaps come to recognize a friend when at first glance we see a stranger .
Let ’ s recover and come back stronger and kinder in 2021 with less funerals and more weddings , less elbow bumps and more hugs , less COVID and more hunting , less Zooming and more inperson meetings , less government and more liberty . Can I get an amen ? Michael Warschauer Warsaw
