Readers share what they are wishing for in the new year

The end of one year and the beginning of the next often make people think about what they would like in the New Year , whether it is a personal goal or something for the community .
This year many people are wishing for less racial and political tensions . Some are hoping for a national championship for the Ohio State Buckeyes . Several people mentioned they are hoping for health concerns for themselves or loved ones being resolved . Others are wishing for a reunion with old friends or family they haven ’ t seen for a long time .
Another wish was for strength to help others in
need . More kindness to animals and more support for those who rescue the unwanted pets also was mentioned often .
Mandy Brenly said , “ I want to be able to slow down even more in 2025 . I want to spend more time with the people I care about . I ’ d love it even more if the whole community got that same mentality — simpler , healthier and happier .”
Nancy Brown said she wanted to spend more time with family and friends . “ And for things to slow down also . Time seems to go faster and faster .”
“ I would wish for less stress ,” Cherie Reveal said . Brown seconded that . April Goodwill said , “ I second everyone else ’ s . I am also hoping everyone to be kinder to each other and recognizing the things that really matter . And I ’ m hoping for more resources for our autism community .”
Casey Jones is wishing for a trip to Minnesota to see her Aunt Donna while her brother Rob is hoping to go back to Tennessee and stay in a cabin with a hot tub and his niece , Rosie .
The best part about wishing is , sometimes , we can help make those wishes come true . Be kind to others and the community becomes kinder to everyone . Help others and others will help you . Be the difference you want to see in your life and community . Reach for those dreams .

Ten years ago Jeff Smailes ’ daughter asked him to put up some Christmas lights outside . Every year his display grows , and it takes about three days to get everything in place . “ It started with a few here and there , and I add stuff to it every year .” His home is located at 753 W .
