Cardinal Chorale presents concert with community choir
COSHOCTON - The 23rd edition of the Cardinal Chorale will be in Coshocton for a Winter Pops Concert with special guests , the Coshocton Community Choir . The concert will be Sunday , January 14 , at 3 p . m . at The Presbyterian Church , 142 North Fourth St ., Coshocton . The doors will open at 2:30 p . m .
The chorale ’ s 90-minute program will feature selections from their 2017 show , “ Give Us Hope ” - music that “ will fill the soul and lift the spirit ,” as one listener described a chorale performance . It will also be a preview of the concert they will present for the Ohio Music Education Association ’ s professional development concert in Columbus on Feb . 10 .
Organized in the summer of 1995 by its conductor , Charles R . Snyder , the Cardinal Chorale is a select 51-voice traveling ensemble of high school and college singers . In its 20-year history , the chorale has been invited to sing for a number of professional conferences and has performed on the campuses of Capital University , Muskingum University , Kent State University , Ohio University , and Penn State University . The chorale has also sung for a number of state celebrations including the rededication of the Ohio Statehouse , and the state ’ s Martin Luther King , Jr . celebration in Columbus .

NEWARK - Registration is now open for the sixth annual high school egg drop competition at Central Ohio Technical College ( COTC ). The event is being held on Friday , April 6 from 9 a . m . to 1 p . m . in the John Gilbert Reese Center , 1209 University Drive , on the shared campus of COTC and The Ohio State University at Newark . The competition is hosted by COTC ’ s engineering technology department .
The egg drop competition is a classic engineering experiment . The objective of the competition is to design a device that will protect an egg from breaking when it is dropped from a height of approximately 22 feet . Entrants compete to design the device with the lightest weight , the fewest number of parts and the most accurate fall to the drop zone target .
In 2017 , more than 400 central Ohio high school students participated . The competition encourages ingenuity and innovation in high school students who have an interest in engineering , but it is also open to those students who plan on pursuing education outside of engineering after high school .
Registration is open to all high school students . Students can compete individually or as part of a team .
