The Coshocton KOA Holiday was recognized with the ICON Award

Kampgrounds of America Inc ., the largest system of privately owned campgrounds in the world , announced Coshocton KOA Holiday was recognized with the KOA ICON Award . This recognition highlights campgrounds that demonstrate operational excellence , customer satisfaction and a commitment to the KOA brand .

The Muskingum Valley League belongs to the Black Bears , having claimed their first title with a spotless 15-0 record . Facing the Morgan Raiders on the RVHS court , the Black Bears won 109-73 . The team was led by Eric Budendorf with 23 , John Williams with 20 , Mike Moyer with 18 and Bruce Lowery with 15 . Budendorf also broke the school ’ s all-time rebounding record and was presented the game ball by the previous record holder Randy Stewart . Williams set a new scoring record and was presented a game ball by former record holder Terry Albertson .

Scout leader Jim King has been given the Award of Merit by the Boy Scouts of America . The Dayton native came to Coshocton County in 1948 and has been involved in scouting since 1967 . He has already received a number of awards from the Boy Scouts for his support scouting in the Coshocton area and the wider Muskingum Valley Council . Shortly after graduating from Conesville , he would enlist in the Navy , serving during the Korean War until 1952 . He worked as an industrial electrician until he retired due to disability in 1963 . King and his wife , Patricia ( Rose ), live on Vine St ., and are grandparents by their daughter Cynthia , married to Randy Walling of Coshocton .

“ We hope to have the pavilion done by Nov . 1 which is when we promised the people it would be ready for use ,” said Andy Carter , president of the Coshocton City-County Park Board . A restoration will soon be underway to renovate and improve the Lake Park Pavilion . “ Even though the campaign was scheduled to end the middle of December , we still take pledges and contributions from the community if anyone wants to give ,” said Jennie Thompson , chairwoman of the renovation committee . Preliminary architectural reports say the structure is in good shape . The park district considers the pavilion a potential candidate for the National Register of Historic Places , as it is one of the last of its kind in Ohio .

The Lady Bears are one step closer to claiming the ECOL crown . A 55-42 win over Dover has put them at 11-0 in their first year in the ECOL , and 15-2 overall . “ It being our first year in the ECOL and to come out and beat one of the best teams is a great feeling . But we know it ’ s not over . We still have a lot of work to do ,” said RVHS sophomore Brittany Bailey . Kristen Daugherty led the team with 24 points followed by Sami Dickerson with 10 and Ashley Owens with 8 .

“ This is a beautiful facility , and it used to be booming years ago . When the opportunity came up to run it , It seemed perfect with Brian doing the food and me the entertainment ,” Said Bruce Uher . Bruce , along with Julie Uher and Brian and Sheryl Owen operates the newly reopened RiverFront . “ I thought it was something different to do and a way to bring music to the community ,” said Brian Owen . One of the restaurant ’ s new features will be “ Fair Food Friday ” featuring fair favorites like corn dogs , elephant ears and Italian sausages . In addition to the revamped menu and live entertainment the RiverFront will also serve as an events space .
