The Coshocton County Commissioners were recently awarded a CDBG Allocation and Neighborhood Revitalization Grant in the Village of West Lafayette and a Critical Infrastructure Grant in the Village of West Lafayette . The County is requesting interested firms to submit “ Statement of Qualifications ” for engineering design and project oversight for the following projects : West Lafayette Allocation and Neighborhood Revitalization Project and Village of West Lafayette Critical Infrastructure Project .

It is never too late to pick up a new hobby

Catherine Miller grew up watching her mom and grandmother quilt and decided to pick up the art as an adult . At 90 years old , she is still quilting away .
“ I was a retired guidance counselor and teacher and wanted a hobby ,” she said . “ My mom always had a quilt in a frame . She ’ d work on one to get out by Thanksgiving and then another one to be out by Easter .”
Quilting also became a way for Miller to pass the time when she was off on adventures .
“ I worked on a lot of them when I was traveling ,” she said . “ I ’ ve been to all seven continents .”
One of her quilts even shares a bit of family history . The scrap quilt features

“ I can pick out some of my clothes and my kids ’ clothes in it ,” said Debbie Croft , Miller ’ s daughter .
Fabric from the bridesmaid dresses worn at Croft ’ s brother ’ s wedding , a piece of a prom dress and even Miller ’ s mother ’ s apron can be found in the quilt . Her children have quilts and so do the grandkids , but she ’ s not sure she will get to the greatgrandchildren . She does , however , have plenty of material at home and gets gift certificates as gifts to buy more when needed .
It takes her four to six months depending on the size to complete her quilts . She then has Robin Poorman do the quilting on them for her .

Village of West Lafayette – Allocation and Neighborhood Revitalization Project Coshocton County is proposing to use $ 700,000 in CDBG Allocation and Neighborhood Revitalization funds and $ 63,000 in local funds for engineering and construction to install 32 parking spaces , 1 handicapped ramp , 1 athletic field , 1 item of equipment , 85 parking spaces , 8,000 SF of pavement , 1,000 ft of structure , 5,214 LF of street improvements , and 11 street lights in the Village of West Lafayette .
Village of West Lafayette – Critical Infrastructure Project Coshocton County is proposing to use $ 470,000 in CDBG Critical Infrastructure funds , $ 68,900 in CDBG Allocation funds , and $ 50,000 in local funds for engineering and construction to replace 1,829 LF of storm sewer line , install 12 catch basins , and 7 manholes in the Village of West Lafayette .
