Ridgewood chess tournament winners named

The Ridgewood Chess Club recently held its winter chess tournament . There were three divisions in the tournament : high school , sixth and seventh grade , and fourth and fifth grade . There was a total of 24 students competing in this year ’ s winter tournament .
Ridgewood holds its chess club every Thursday with 30-45 students taking part each Thursday after school .
The high school champion was Jadon Smoulder with Jacob Blackwell taking second place .
Winners in the fourth- and fifthgrade division were Hunter Lahna , champion ; Jackson Grimmett , second ; Gavin Phillips , third ; Lexi Howell , fourth ; and Rogan Medley , fifth .
In the sixth- and seventh-grade division , Javyn Gress was the champion with Wyatt Wilkin taking second place . Grady Alan finished in third place , followed by Bentley Ruby in fourth place .
Sign-ups for the spring open chess tournament are now taking place .
