Brown memorial event is March 10

The public is invited to the fourth annual Travis Brown Memorial Pool Tournament and Scholarship Fundraiser on Sunday , March 10 at the Coshocton

Brown passed away Sept . 6 , 2020 , at the age of 38 from a rare disease called Wilson ’ s disease . He was an avid pool player

The entry fee is $ 20 . The bar will open at noon , and the Calcutta will begin at 1 p . m . The race depends on the number of players . Valley rules will be used , and there will be single players and double elimination .
The day also will include a 50 / 50 , raffles , a bake sale , a spaghetti dinner by donation at 3 p . m . and a limited live auction at 4 p . m . Carryout will be available for the dinner .

SUNDAY , FEB . 24 , 1974 Harold and Mary Albertson will be opening a restaurant in the newly purchased location at 503 Main St ., formerly the Mayflower Restaurant . The Mary and Harold Restaurant as it will now be named will be reopening in about six weeks after remodeling work is done . The Albertsons already operate the Athletic Club , located at 502 Main St ., which will be turned into a bar . The Mayflower had been in operation since 1941 when the brothers Robert and Francis Cannon established it . Gordon Rogers bought it from Robert , who Francis sold his interest to , in 1964 and continued operating it until closing a few years ago .
SUNDAY , FEB . 26 , 1984 Treasured Moments Boutique bridal shop has now opened in Main Street ’ s Pastime Mini-Mall . Owned and operated by Doris Stewart , the store offers a wide variety of bridal and formal services including a selection of gowns , tuxedo rentals and will soon feature a bridal registry .
SUNDAY , FEB . 27 , 1994 Ridgewood has claimed the Division III Sectional title following their 76-69 win over Barnesville , secured only in the last 2:30 of the game . Jeremy Conkle led the team with 27 points and managed to cross the 1,000-point line . He was followed by Rich Porcher with 19 and both Tom Dusenberry and Chris Lahmers with nine a piece .
TUESDAY , FEB . 24 , 2004 “ I have my own interpretation of the photographs , but I like to hear what other people say . That ’ s what I like about the pictures — it says a lot of things ,” said Johnny Ramos , a photographer and documentarian who is the Pomerene Center ’ s featured artist from Feb . 20 to March 14 . The exhibit on display is a series of photos taken of Cleveland processioners on Good Friday taken from 1999-2003 . Ramos , a native of Puerto Rico who lives in Dayton , said the procession is an important part of the Latin community of Cleveland . In addition to the photographs several handmade crosses are on display . The crosses come from countries throughout Central America and Caribbean belong to Marlin Yoder and his wife Sara King . The pair collected them over six years as they performed mission work in Mexico for the Mennonite Central Committee .
WEDNESDAY , FEB . 26 , 2014 Coshocton swimmers made it to the state meet and put in excellent performances . The boys team of Bryce Philabaum , Brian Rogers , Marc Smith , and Alex Wheeler finished 14th in the 200-medley relay and 16th in the 400-freestyle relay . Philabaum also participated in the solo 100 backstroke where he finished 15th .
