February 26, 2020 River View 2020 OHSAA Central/Southeast District Tournament The River View boys and girls swimming competed in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II Southeast District Tournament Meet at The Ohio State University on Saturday, Feb. 8. Each event had 30 swimmers. The top two places in each event earned automatic berths in the Ohio State Championships, with the remainder of the 24 spots seeded by top times across all four districts. Medals were awarded to the top eight places in each event. The River View boys’ team finished sixth out of 34 schools overall, while the girls were 19th out of 30, and the Black Bears brought home 11 medals. Making it to the podium was the third place, and tied for 27th best time in Division II, 200 Free Relay of Reas Pepper, Lincoln Shroyer, Brayden Karr, and JT Roberts (1:32.69); the fifth place The Beacon • 21 400 Free Relay of Coen Bible, Brady Philabaum, Cole Tatro, and Reas Pepper (3:29.99); Berta Vidal, who was fifth in the 200 Individual Medley, with the 25th best time in the state (2:14.09); and Reas Pepper, who was eighth in both the 50 (23.03) and 100 Freestyle (50.95). Additionally, for the girls, Berta Vidal was 11th (1:02.02) in the 100 Backstroke. Lindsey Ashcraft was 17th (1:15.58) in the 100 Breaststroke, and 22nd (1:08.65) in the 100 Butterfly. The 200 Free Relay of Vidal, Michaela White, Raychel Smalley, and Ashcraft was 11th (1:52.01). The 200 Medley Relay of Vidal, Aliya Stevens, Ashcraft, and Smalley was 16th (2:04.90) and the 400 Free Relay of MaryAnn Lozowski, White, Katie Hardesty, and Rachel Van- denbark was 22nd (4:25.75). For the boys, Cole Tatro was 13th in both the 100 Fly (58.17) and the 200 IM (2:13.96). Luke Massie was 13th (1:00.88) in the 100 Back and 20th (2:19.42) in the 200 IM. Brady Phila- baum was 15th (1:01.79) in the 100 Back. Brayden Karr was 19th (1:08.38) in the 100 Breast. Ahmed Perez was 25th (5:48.86) in the 500 Free. The 200 Medley Relay of Philabaum, Karr, Tatro, and Roberts was 12th (148.13) and in the 50 Free, Roberts was 12th (23.79), Shroyer 20th (24.12), and Bible 27th (24.54).
