think we need to make up our minds about this and move forward . Oh sure , there is a lot of pandering about and squabbling back and forth on all fronts . Going across the aisle , so to speak , in this particular instance , will not work . We are talking about outside , not inside .
Anyway , time will eventually run out and we will see the fruit of our labors spring forth . In fact , in about 34 days from the date on this issue of The Coshocton County Beacon . I don ’ t know about you - but I am sure that I heard robins singing and the grass showing a slight tinge of green this past weekend .
I am talking about Mother Nature here , not the Supreme Court justice nominee . We just need a decision made - is it winter or is it spring ? The temperature cannot tell us at this point-because we go from balmy back to the winter blues seemingly overnight . Well , not seemingly , because that is exactly what we are doing here in our little piece of Ohio . When it ’ s 50 degrees at 2 p . m . in the afternoon and then down to 28 degrees by 9 p . m . in the evening something has to give . Just not the temperature . However , that is just in time for MacGyver . I bet he could fix this . A roll of duct tape , some binder twine and a ballpoint pen-and whoolah ( not an actual word ) - we are on a steady temperature stream . That may be what it takes to turn this around . Regardless , spring is on the way . The Ohio State University women ’ s basketball team is rolling - with only one conference loss they are in control of the season . Continued success will see a strong NCAA tournament seed . The Buckeye men ’ s hoops team is having a challenging season . The Ashland Eagles women ’ s basketball team is enjoying a great season - currently 25-0 and preparing for a strong tournament run . Former River View High School standout Andi Daugherty is a junior on the team . Every lady on the team is from Ohio and the roster includes two former West Holmes standouts ; Laina Snyder and Rachelle Morrison . Kari ( Daugherty ) Pickens is the assistant women ’ s basketball coach . You can find out more about their season and upcoming games at www . goashlandeagles . com .
Speaking of spring , pitchers and catchers have reported . The Indians first spring training workout is - was - Tuesday . The roster has been bolstered with the addition of pitcher Boone Logan from Colorado and slugger Edwin Encarnacion from the Blue Jays . Now if everyone can stay healthy , especially Brantley , it could be a successful season come October .
The Cavaliers , despite a not so solid month of January , are rolling in February and are in first place in the Eastern Conference . That opponent that is always sticking around - The Golden State Warriors - are first in the western conference with a strong 46-8 record . The Celtics are in second place behind the Cavs in the east .
Be sure to check out the salute to our local FFA chapters at Ridgewood , River View and the Coshocton County Career Center in this issue of The Beacon . Thank you to all of the local businesses and organizations that made this section possible .
