River View FFA students spread Christmas cheer

River View High School FFA students were able to bring a touch of country Christmas cheer once again to students during a special event on Dec . 16 .
“ This is the one program we really missed last year ( due to COVID ),” said Allyssa Mullett , FFA advisor . “ The kids were really excited when we started planning it . We had two classes that have never done it before . It ’ s amazing to see it all come together and the kids having fun here .”
The FFA area at RVHS was decorated for Christmas , and kindergarten , preschool and special-needs students from the district and Hopewell were invited to come enjoy games , crafts , an inflatable , a petting zoo , snacks and a visit with Santa Claus .

business , we needed to get creative . We thought about what else we could do and decided everyone would love a bounce
house , and we made sure to wipe it down between groups .”
About 150 special guests were expected to come

Junior Brody Shrimplin had a rabbit to show their young guests , sophomore Gage Wesney had a very calm bantam rooster and freshman Melissa Chanay joined them with another rabbit .

“ He came out last night ,” Mullett said . “ He checked everything out and gave it his stamp of approval .”
This was sophomore Jayden Rice ’ s first year helping with the event . “ I like hanging out with the animals and seeing all the happy little faces ,” she said .
Junior Ethan Wilson helped out when he was a freshman and was glad to see the event back . He and Rice were showing their guests a heifer .

“ It ’ s my sister ’ s rabbit ,” she said . “ It ’ s well behaved .”
Sophomores Brianna Karr and Chloey Geog were excited to get a chance to help at the Touch of Country Christmas .
“ I was really looking forward to this ,” Karr said .
She and Geog were running the cookie walk activity .
“ I like hanging out with the kids and seeing them get excited ,” Geog said .
