If you are still looking for ideas of fun family things to do on New Year ’ s Eve , here is a list of ideas .

Kids America will offer activities for all ages from 8:30 p . m . to 12:30 a . m . Children under the age of 12 require adult supervision , and everyone must be picked up by 12:30 a . m . Advance tickets are $ 3 , and tickets at the door are $ 5 . This event is for members and nonmembers of KA . There will be open play basketball , pickleball , volleyball , kickball , Frisbee / hula hoop and competitions in some of the sports .

There also will be inflatables available , and the ball drop from New York will be shown . Pizza from Papa John ’ s will be available .

Legacy Lanes will have bowling from noon to 8 p . m . on New Year ’ s Eve in two-hour increments . They will be closed from 8-9 p . m . to clean up and get ready for their New Year ’ s Eve Party , which will start at 9 p . m . They are selling tickets for the party . Tickets are $ 30 and include four hours of bowling ,

shoes , party favors , pork / sauerkraut , hot dogs and pizza . Jeff Oswald , coowner of Legacy Lanes , said each lane must have four people , but up to six are welcome .

Shelby Theatres also will be open that evening .

If staying home is more what you want to do , make it a party for your family . Ask each person in your family what their favorite snack is and purchase plenty . Buy party plates and napkins . Purchase fancy “ champagne ” or “ wine ” glasses ; you will be surprised at how special

your children will feel drinking from the fancy glasses . Remember to pick up party hats , poppers and noise makers for the minute the clock strikes midnight .

Plan a game night for your family . Let everyone choose a game to play and maybe even purchase small prizes for the winners . It doesn ’ t need to be anything big — maybe a candy bar or another special treat . It won ’ t matter — your kids will just remember the fun they had playing games with you .

A family movie night

is another great option . Have everyone wear pajamas and bring sleeping bags , pillows and blankets to the TV room . Pick several movies and let everyone vote . Remember to only pick movies that are OK for small children to watch before you ask for the vote .

You also could plan a scavenger hunt through your house . Give your kids a list of things they have to find and see who can find everything first . Or have a singing contest , a dance contest or any number of minute to win-it contests . Make

up your own game or ask your children to help come up with ideas of fun things you can do that night .

You can set up a “ photo booth ” with props . You can buy plain hats and craft supplies and let everyone decorate their own party hat . Buy a roll of plain paper , cut it to fit your table and let your kids color and decorate your party “ tablecloth .” There are so many ways to let your kids get involved in the party planning , and they will enjoy that as much as the actual party .
