New contest set for Fresno
If you enjoy Christmas decorations and have a Fresno ZIP Code , this new contest is for you .
“ One of my favorite holiday traditions will always be jumping in the car on a cold , preferably snowy evening and driving around the countryside looking for light displays ,” Becky Frame from Toby Way Farm in Fresno said . “ Something about a welldecorated home or farm puts me in the Christmas spirit faster than the best playlist of holiday hits . In case some of our neighbors feel the same way , we decided to host the first annual Light Up Fresno Christmas Light Contest .”
Residents of the Fresno 43824 ZIP Code are invited to participate . To register , send an email with name , address of the display to be judged , email address and phone number to Toby- WayFarm @ outlook . com by Saturday , Dec . 18 . Local judges will come around to check out displays Dec . 18-23 , so make sure your lights are on .
First place will receive $ 150 . Second place will win $ 100 , and third place will get $ 50 . Prizes are sponsored by Toby Way Farm and The Garden Patch Greenhouse .

Children share wishes for Santa

Do you remember the Cabbage Patch Kid craze of the 1980s ? What about when Tickle Me Elmo seemed to be on every little kid ’ s list but was nowhere to be found in stores ?
The Beacon wanted to know what kids are asking Santa for this year . We decided to give them the opportunity to write letters to the man himself during the Jingle Bell Shop Hop on Dec . 4 . Here ’ s a look at what they had to say .

Cadence , 8 , asked Santa for an American Girl Doll and wished him a safe trip .
Slime is on 4-year-old Layken ’ s list and so are Fancy Nancy items .
Lila , 8 , asked for a big unicorn stuffed animal . Her cousin Sophia , who also is 8 , asked Santa to bring her elf Peppermint a gift . Sophia ’ s 6-year-old sister Sawyer is pretty sure Santa is going to bring her lots of LOL stuff .
Ruby , 8 , asked Santa for a Panda Bear Alexa .
Elli , 8 , wants some more art supplies and also had a kind message for Santa . “ Merry Christmas and good luck on your big trip .”
