Artist will soon unveil painting of Delaware chief

Festival of Trees is going on now at career center

Christmas trees have popped up throughout the Coshocton County Career Center for a contest sponsored by student council .
Classrooms , programs and offices were all invited to participate in the annual Festival of Trees . Entries needed to be up and decorated by Dec . 12 , and students and staff voted for their favorites on Dec . 14 and continue through Dec . 16 .
“ They can ’ t vote on their tree , but those not involved with a tree can vote on anything ,” said Karen Overholt , student council advisor . “ We want
Historian Alan Fitzpatrick of Wheeling will unveil his portrait of the Delaware ( Lenape ) Turtle Clan Chief Netawatwees .
Fitzpatrick is an author , historian , artist and lecturer with extensive knowledge of 18thcentury American history and a focus on the eastern woodland native culture in the Ohio country during the French and Indian Wars through the American Revolution .
Fitzpatrick ’ s six nonfiction American history books detail the Native American side of the story of wilderness war during the 1700s . His oil portraits are often subjects he has written about and capture the emotion and spirit of individuals in a realistic style . The unveiling ceremony and lecture will be held Saturday , Dec . 17 at 1 p . m . at the Olde Main Street Museum and Social Center at 213 W . Canal St . in Newcomerstown . A book-signing and Q-and-A session will be held after the unveiling .
