Community improvement award presented at luncheon

By Josie Sellers
All those who played a role in creating Skip ’ s Landing on County Road 1A were honored for their involvement in making another place to enjoy the outdoors in Coshocton County .
Evan Fischer from the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee said the project started with a phone call from the late Skip Ferrell ’ s wife . She wanted to know if the county was interested in buying the property where his former business was . The commissioners worked with the Coshocton Port Authority to purchase the property , and the county engineer ’ s office helped
develop it .
A boat ramp , signage , benches , tables and lighting are all part of the project , which was celebrated on July 28 at the Chamber of Commerce Luncheon held at Schumaker Farms . Fischer presented a community improvement award that was accepted by county commissioner Dane
Shryock ; Mary Beck , the commissioners ’ administrator / clerk ; and Josh Kempf , assistant county engineer .
“ It takes a lot of help to make a project like this happen ,” Shryock said . “ We have big ideas and big plans for that area .”
Beck thanked Kempf and county engineer Fred Wachtel for their help .
