Art guild members enjoy annual picnic meeting

The Coshocton Art Guild held its annual picnic at Lake Park on Thursday evening , July 14 . Jack Hunt , president of the art guild , opened the event with a short meeting so the chicken wouldn ’ t get cold .
“ This is our second picnic . It ’ s just for fun ,” Hunt said . “ We have an annual
Christmas party , and we decided 12 months was too long to wait for a gettogether . We decided to have a picnic in the summer . We have a lot of fun . It ’ s all about fun .”
The Coshocton Art Guild has more than 60 members . They don ’ t care what art medium is used .
“ It ’ s not just about art and painting ,” Hunt said . “ We have about a half-dozen photographers . It ’ s any kind of art . Even if you ’ re doing something that no one else is doing , you are welcome to join . Maybe you can teach us a thing or two . We get together to trade ideas and share our work , like show and tell . We share things we have been working on since the last meeting . At the Toll House ( in Roscoe Village ), we are working on having
some workshops and little paint parties , things like that .”
Melissa Maxwell is working on a workshop on encaustic painting , a technique in which pigments are mixed with hot liquid wax .
“ It ’ s going to be fun because it ’ s different ,” she said . “ That will be the first workshop at our new facility , the Toll House in Roscoe Village .”
B . J . Taylor also plans to have a workshop . Stop at the Toll House or Foothills Studio for information .
Meetings of the Coshocton Art Guild are held the second Thursday each month at 5 p . m . at the Signmaker Shop , 801 Walnut St ., Coshocton . Meeting dates for the remainder of this year are Aug . 11 , Sept . 8 , Oct . 13 , Nov . 10 and Dec . 8 .
