Warsaw alumni excited to award several scholarships
The Warsaw Alumni Association awarded $ 14,000 in scholarships to thirteen 2023 River View graduates who attended Warsaw Elementary School . Since 1992 the association has awarded $ 155,875 to 201 River View graduates .
There are two types of scholarships awarded each year . Warsaw Alumni Scholarships are funded by graduates , teachers and friends of the school or community with contributions less than $ 500 . The second type of award is family-related scholarships that are funded by families of the local community with contributions of $ 500 or more . These awards were presented at the 2023 River View High School Awards Assembly .
This year they awarded four alumni scholarships .
Recipients include Preston Yoder , son of Michael and Lucinda Yoder , who will attend Taylor University and major in sports management ; Brady Winner , son of Danny and Melissa Winner , who will attend Ashland University and major in the physician assistant program ; Adison Smith , daughter of Mickey Smith and Heidi Koch , who will attend Central Ohio Technical College and major in nursing ; and Anthony Endsley , son of Gary and Rebekah Endsley , who will attend Muskingum University and major in nursing .
Nine other graduates received family-related scholarships , which are funded by local families . The Conrad Family Memorial Scholarship of $ 2,000 was awarded to Cayla Shrimplin , who will attend Kent State University and major in the physician ’ s assisting program . She is the daughter of Cal and Renee Shrimplin . This award is funded by Mr . and Mrs . Jim Gill and Linda Guess Conrad Bowen and her daughters
Ronda Conrad Kidwell and Sheryl Conrad .
The Scruggs Educational Scholarship of $ 1,000 is funded by Stephen S . Scruggs , a 1965 graduate of WHS . This award was given to Rebekah Unkefer , who will attend Cedarville University and major in nursing . She is the daughter of Jonathan and Amy Unkefer .
The Lawrence Memorial Scholarship of $ 1,000 was awarded to Jamal Watts , son of Blake Watts and Najah Biggers . He will attend Ashland University and major in nursing . This scholarship is funded by the family of Richard and Mary Daugherty Lawrence and Mr . and Mrs . Jon Husted .
The Davis Family Education Memorial Grant of $ 1,000 was awarded to Brieanne Hagans , who will attend the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute and major in animal science . She is the daughter of Eric and Mary Hagans . This grant is funded by a local Davis family to honor their fathers and uncles , Reo , Denny , Ward and Marvin Davis , all Warsaw High School graduates who dedicated their lives to education , law , banking and agriculture .
T h e C l o d a u g h Brenneman Cline Memorial Scholarship of $ 1,000 was awarded to Grace Cullison , who will attend Kent State University and major in marketing . She is the daughter of Glenn and Gloria Cullison . This scholarship is coordinated through the Coshocton Foundation and funded by the late Al Cline , Clodaugh ’ s husband and family .
The Dwight Fesler Memorial Scholarship of $ 1,000 was awarded to Lillian Yoder , who will attend Shawnee State University in dental hygiene . She is the daughter of Brian and Stephanie Yoder . This scholarship is funded by Mrs . Judy Stubbs Fesler , Dwight ’ s wife .
The Donald E . Balo Memorial Scholarship of $ 1,000 was awarded to Mark Dickerson , son of Mark and Sarah Dickerson , who will attend Zane State College majoring in the assistant physical therapy program . This award was funded by the late Donald E . Balo .
The Buxton Family Memorial Scholarship of
$ 500 and the Dr . James and Norella Walker Memorial Scholarship of $ 500 were awarded to Kaden Arnold , who will attend Muskingum College and major in education . He is the son of Jack and Christine Arnold . The Buxton Scholarship is funded by the Selby Buxton family , and the Walker Scholarship is funded by Terry Walker , their daughter and a 1963 graduate of Warsaw High School .
The William and Zelma Slack Green Memorial Scholarship of $ 500 and the Norman and June Funk Cullison Memorial Scholarship of $ 500 were awarded to Bobbi Rahn , daughter of Terry Rahn and Daniel and Shayla Reedy . She will attend Central Ohio Technical College and major in
