Employment expo united businesses and workers
By Josie Sellers
If you were looking for a new job , the employment expo held Aug . 18 at Lake Park Pavilion was the place to be . More than 50 employers attended , many of which were ready to host interviews .
“ We have healthcare people here , manufacturers , restaurants , just about everything ,” said Lynn Jacobs , administrator with Ohio Means Jobs Coshocton County . “ This is an annual event for us , but it was not held last year due to the pandemic .”
The expo was moved up a month this year to assist the many businesses in the area currently looking for employees .
“ The businesses are all in need , and moving it allowed us to work with child support during their
awareness month ,” Jacobs said . “ There were fun activities for the kids and food .”
Employers had lunch provided by Papa John ’ s , and transportation was available to job seekers .
“ We had a loop running from Job and Family Services to ( the pavilion ),” Jacobs said . “ Coordinated transportation provided that for us . It ’ s something unique that we haven ’ t tried before . We added to the expo this year because instead of people really looking for jobs and there being none , businesses are really looking for people . We wanted to help get potential employees here . This is Shanna Stanton ’ s ( the new Ohio Means Jobs Coshocton County business coordinator ) first year doing this , and she really picked up the ball .
