First food truck festival was held in Roscoe Village
By Jen Jones
After hearing many requests from the community for more festivals in Roscoe Village , the first food truck festival was held Aug . 19 .
“ We have been wanting to add some other big events to the village for the last few years , and we love food truck festivals . We thought it would be a nice way to bring a more modern feeling event than our other festivals ,” said Clarrisa Roof , special events coordinator for Roscoe Village .
Roof said eight food trucks were available for festival-goers , and several other food vendors were there such as kettle corn and bake sales .
Along with food , Slater Family Farms provided a petting zoo . Marybeth Crider-Slater said they wanted to be part of the festival to help get the word out about their petting zoo and farm with several family activities .
“ We thought this would be a good way to be more present in the community ,” she said . “ I have some social anxiety , but I can talk all day about the farm .”
The outreach provided a sensory game for people to play as they pet the animals , such as which one is softer or which is loudest .
Face painting , handson crafts at the Hay Activity Center and spear throwing at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum were all available for families to enjoy . Clary Gardens had caterpillars and a craft to go along with them at the Coshocton Supply Company . The shop also had free flags for kids and a craft in partnership with the Pomerene Center for the Arts .
Tantalizing Tigers provided a stilt walker , hula hoops and bubble station . Lynnie Lou ’ s offered a toy box for children to pick a toy from .
Adults weren ’ t forgotten in the festival planning . At the main stage , anyone could perform during the open mic time . Randy Velez and Minus
One Family Band also performed .
Roof said adults were able to make use of the DORA to take alcohol from a restaurant out to the stage for performances , and there was a Wooly Pig Beer Garden at the museum . All of the shops and restaurants were open for festival attendees .
