Public welcome to come learn about BPW

The Coshocton Business and Professional Women ’ s group is a way to form connections , learn new skills and give back to the community .
BPW was founded in 1919 and is considered the first organization to focus on the issues of working women .
“ We are family friendly , and the organization has evolved over the years ,” said Carey McMasters , president of Coshocton BPW .
BPW is a leader in grassroots activism , policy influence and advocacy for millions of women . Its mission is to achieve equality for all women in the workplace through

advocacy , education and information .
“ I ’ ve been involved since 2013 ,” McMasters said . “ I like the mentorship of it and the support and encouragement you receive . We advocate for each other .”
Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 6 p . m . at the Boathouse restaurant .
“ I like to keep the meetings short and concise but also have a program ,” McMasters said . “ We are trying to celebrate our members with our programs . We have members talking on everything from yoga to mental health to human trafficking . If someone from the public wants to come speak ,

The BPW members work together to give back to the community through the Christmas Castle Program , sponsoring a girl to attend Buckeye Girls
State , co-sponsoring Meet the Candidates with the Coshocton Farm Bureau , volunteering with the hospital ’ s Fill the Backpack program , making monthly donations to First Step and more .
In May BPW awarded two $ 1,000 working women scholarships , one $ 1,000 Nike Scholarship and one $ 500 Dollars for Scholars . The annual BPW cake auction raises funds for these . A community wiener roast / ice cream party will be held Friday , Aug . 11 at 6 p . m . at Conesville United Methodist Church .
