New West Lafayette Homecoming royalty court selected

The West Lafayette Homecoming queen contest started off with an important message for contestants from Mayor Jessie Tubbs .
“ It ’ s not always about sparkly dresses and tiaras ,” Tubbs said . “ It ’ s about building relationships and empowering women to be ambassadors for their community .”
The new court , selected during a contest held July 25 at Burt Park in West Lafayette , is ready to do just what Tubbs encouraged them to do .
“ I ’ m looking forward to meeting people and promoting our festival and the great firemen ’ s French fries we have there ,” 2024 West Lafayette Homecoming Queen Caitlin Swiney said . “ I started doing this contest a couple of years ago , and it ’ s helped me with confidence .”
Her attendants are first attendant Mady Griffith and second attendant Miley Sesser .
Junior Queen Lily Creachbaum said , “ I want to make memories and new friends . I ’ m excited to go to festivals too . I wanted to do this before but didn ’ t have the courage . I ’ m glad I did it .”
Mini Queen Lillian Griffith watched her sister serve on last year ’ s court and decided to compete herself .
“ I ’ m going to meet new people and tell them what a good place West Lafayette is ,” she said . “ I ’ ve lived here my whole life , and it ’ s super fun . This will help me with confidence and talking to people too .”
Helping Griffith promote West Lafayette will be Lily Edwards , first attendant ; Leigha
Hollins , second attendant ; and Laycee Hill , third attendant .
Junior Mini Queen Paisley Vickers is excited to go to parades . Her attendants are Aria Smith , first attendant , and Quinn Guthrie , second attendant .
“ I ’ m going to meet new people , be kind to people and remind them to throw their trash away ,” Vickers said .
Rounding out the court are Little Cutie Miss Everleigh Ross , Little Cutie Mister Ozkar Plant and Senior Queen Kay Boyd . The cuties were selected based on photos they submitted that were judged by local photographers

and Boyd , who was picked from community nominations . She is a nearly lifelong resident of the West Lafayette area and was active with the homecoming court when her daughters served .
“ This is quite an honor ,” Boyd said . “ I ’ m proud to be from here . This is the best little village .”
