AIB advisers enjoy their time in the Coshocton community

One of the many places America in Bloom advisers visited while in Coshocton was LeRetilley Event Center .
The historic building on West Street , just above Roscoe Village , was brought back to life by Zach Stevens and his family . He gave AIB advisers Connie Baggett and Carolynn ( Carrie ) Sears a tour of the building on July 26 , and then they had lunch with members of Coshocton in Bloom .
Lunch was prepared by Julia Brown , who operates A Simpler Thyme , which is an herbal and outdoor learning center in the Fresno area . She recently released her first cookbook and used recipes from it for lunch .
While having lunch , Baggett and Sears both said they were enjoying their time in Coshocton . They especially liked all the flowers lining the bridge into town and the improvements being done to historical buildings like the LeRetilley Event Center .
America in Bloom is a 501 ( c )( 3 ) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting nationwide beautification programs and personal and community involvement using flowers , plants , trees , and other

environmental and lifestyle enhancements . The adviser reports are shared each fall at a symposium , and this year that wrap-up event will be held in Columbus .
“ We take a lot of notes while we are here ,” Sears said . “ Before we come , we look at the community ’ s website and also at past evaluations .”
To date , more than 350 communities from 43 states have participated in the
program , and more than 22 million people have been touched by it . Awards will be announced Sept . 26-28 at AIB ’ s National Symposium & Awards Celebration in Columbus . Baggett encourages leaders from participating communities to attend the celebration .
