The Ohio Attorney General recently announced Kent State University and its College of Applied and Technical Studies joined four other regional partners to form OPOTA Close to Home , a collaboration that extends the reach of Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy training for Ohio ’ s lawenforcement officers .
According to an Ohio Attorney General press release , OPOTA Close to Home reduces costs for law-enforcement agencies , enabling them to avoid staffing shortages and reduce costs of overnight stays .
Regional training partners will schedule and provide OPOTA advanced training courses to current police officers and anyone who has completed OPOTA Basic Training with a certificate . Kent State University will utilize all its regional campuses — Ashtabula , Geauga , Kent , Salem , Stark , Trumbull , Tuscarawas and Twinsburg — and regional law-enforcement partners that have specialized facilities such as firearm ranges .
The other regional partners are Clark State College in Springfield ,
Hocking College in Nelsonville , Great Oaks Career Campuses in Cincinnati and Lorain County Community College in Elyria . According to the release , OPOTA ’ s main academy and Tactical Training Center in London also will continue to provide advanced training .

Kitchen workshop is set
Do you enjoy cooking ? Want to learn time-saving tips to maximize your efforts in the kitchen . Join OSU Extension for Kitchen Gadgets and Gizmos on Monday evening , May 2 from 6:30-7:30 p . m . at the Clary Garden Pavilion , 588 W . Chestnut St . in Coshocton .
Emily Marrison will share tips collected from OSU Extension educators , focusing on affordability , food safety , and convenience . This will include gadgets and gizmos ranging from utensils to equipment like air fryers and food processors . Bring along your favorite kitchen tool or cooking hack as well to share and learn from one another .
