“We keep doing this because you all seem
to enjoy it so much,” said Louise Cardenzana,
president of the club. “We were established in COSHOCTON – Despite the rain, about
30 volunteers showed up at the old
Hilltop Golf Course (now the home of
the Indian Mud Run) on March 30 to
start preparations for the race that will
be held June 22.
Hubie Cushman, one of the race or-
ganizers, ran the course earlier in the
week and found about 60 spots that
could pose a risk to locals who use the
path and to race athletes. Volunteers
brought chain saws and other equip-
ment to clear debris from the course.
Th e clubhouse was also given a good
cleaning to prepare for the big event.
“We opened registration in Septem-
ber 2018 at the request of many. In the
past, our opening wasn’t until Th anks-
giving weekend. We have 35 states,
the District of Columbia and Canada
showing up. Th ey are coming from
coast to coast. Currently, we have as
many registered at this time as we did
on race day last year. We look to break
1,000 athletes this year,” said Amy
Taylor, race organizer.
Last year, the event had 567 com-
petitors. Taylor shared that the group
starts organizing the next year’s event
as soon as one fi nishes.
