THE BEACON 7 APRIL 26, 2017 Josie Sellers | Beacon Jennifer Nelson, owner of Miss Jennifer’s Dance Studio, is pictured with Mayor Steve Mercer at the ribbon cutting on April 19 to officially open her studio in its new location next to Rural King on Second Street. Joining them were several dance students and staff members. Ribbon cutting held at Miss Jennifer’s Josie Sellers COSHOCTON - Since 1998 Jennifer Nelson has touched hundreds if not thousands of young people’s lives. “You started in 1998 above Sheree’s and now have 8,000 square feet of space,” said Amy Stockdale, exec- utive director of the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce. “It’s amazing in here.” Miss Jennifer’s Dance studio moved into its new loca- tion at 785 S. Second St. (next to Rural King) in October, but held its official ribbon cutting with the chamber of commerce on April 19. “We’ve more than doubled our space and like it a lot here,” Nelson said. Before cutting the ribbon she thanked everyone who helped renovate the new studio. “We got everything done in a month’s time and had a lot of our dance family come and help my own family,” Nelson said. “We are so blessed.” Mayor Steve Mercer, who helped Nelson cut the rib- bon, thanked her for her years of service to the commu- nity. “You aren’t just a business,” he said. “You are helping to develop character and molding these young people to become really good citizens in our city.” Mercer also addressed the dance students who joined them for the ribbon cutting. “She (Jennifer) is a great example of what you can do in the community when you apply yourself,” he said. Anyone wanting to catch the dancers from Miss Jennifer’s in action can do so during their recital in June at Coshocton High School’s McKinley Auditorium. The students will perform at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, June 3 and at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4. Tickets will be available that week at the studio and at the door on recital days.
